PICTORIAL - OLYMPIC CITY RENEWAL
I did walk-around photo safari near Workers Stadium in Beijing. It's busy area with all kinds of small events. There is a popular shopping market. Tens of old buildings are going down and making space for new. Sleepy and busy same time.

Above-1: Beijing Photo Safari. From Workers’ Stadium you can see XingFuCun Apartment building. When sales started apartments were 450m2 each, in 2 floors, price 17.000 RMB/m2, that makes over 750.000 EUR per apartment. But regulation changed and layouts changed to 90-258m2 apartments.

This Moti is new model. Near subway stations are plenty of dark green taxi Motis. Hop in and have fun but probably good idea to verify your insurance.

Above-15: Beijing Photo Safari. Torn down. Beijing Olympic Games 2008 will be prepared with $40.000M. This means upgrade. Old houses go, new offices and apartment come instead. This old house is near SanLiTun bar street, in that area tens of houses are marked with torn down” to give space for new Beijing.

Above-31: Beijing Photo Safari. Chinese do new buildings with speed but inside works can take years to finalize. Many new office buildings in Beijing look half empty, office rents are kept high. Chinese companies, like TV maker Skyworth, often save and run business from apartments.
Chinese problem. Newer, non-state owned apartment buildings in Beijing lack professional house management. Apartment owners invest but house management companies are not responsible to owners and live still past non-market economy times. They are not willing and simply have't learnt yet how the houses should be managed. Instead, they find reasons not to serve owners and focus their own benefit. House management services are an opportunity for Singaporeans and Hongkongers in Beijing, they know how.

Google Earth: 39.93311N,116.44659E
At YaShow Market you find hundred+ small shops. It is possible to find high quality products with low prices: cotton trousers 8EUR, cotton shirts 5EUR, top quality T-shirts 4EUR, fashionable ties 2EUR, socks 1EUR. You need to bargain to get with these prices.
Near YaShow many small shops offer copies of Callaway or Taylormade golf sets for 125 EUR per a complete set. One seller advertised that visiting airplane crews are the best customers: One European flight crew just ordered 30 golf sets for their return flight to Europe. Recently Beijing has increased campaigns against copy products.
